The right time to use devices

Devices like computers can be used in many ways however it may not always be the right time. Sometimes people may use an iphone or tablet while talking to someone. This is an example of rudeness because you aren't paying attention to who your talking to. Another example is when you are walking and then stop in the middle of a public space to text or make a phone call.

Cookies and Selling Data

HEADS UP KIDS!!!! Did you know that most commercial Websites sell your data to other companies? Have you ever looked up something on google, then later see ads about that thing you were looking for on another site? It's because sites may give other sites your information, using something called cookies. No, not that kind.

These digital cookies allow you to be tracked online by what you click on. Cookies are a part of being online, but you can block them if you are smart! Since the other sites know your information (or things you are looking up) they know things you are interested in so they put ads up based on the thing that you were looking up.

Types of Cyber Bullying

There are many ways people can be cyber bullied. One way is by posting embarrassing things about a person online on social media sites like Twitter or Instagram. This type of cyber bullying can be harder to stop because it will become viral and spread all over social media. After a while it will become very hard to track down the source of the bullying. Another type of cyber bullying can be sent from an email, text or phone call.

CYBER BULLYING...

Being modern 10 year olds we know a lot about the Internet. We have seen a lot of cyber bullying. One way to protect yourself in social media is by not using your full name or any personal information. By using your full name people can recognize who you  are and can make mean comments. If you are cyber bullied ignore the bully, they will eventually stop. But whatever you do, do not make the bully more aggravated. If it gets to serious tell an adult that you trust.

Welcome to our 5th Grade Discussion on Digital Literacy

So, what is Digital Literacy? Our parents would say it means learning how to be afraid of the internet. We want to let you know that Digital literacy is so much more than avoiding weirdos and bullies or being sucked into a time warp watching stupid cat videos.
